Accessibility statement

The Africa Climate & Energy Nexus is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology.

Last updated: June 2026

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These internationally recognised guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive needs.

What we do

As we build and maintain this site, we work toward:

  • Clear, consistent structure using meaningful headings and landmarks.
  • Sufficient colour contrast between text and its background.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation and interactive elements.
  • Descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Respect for reduced-motion preferences, so animation can be minimised for those who prefer it.
  • Responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time task. We test as we develop and continue to review the site against WCAG 2.2 AA. Some areas may not yet fully meet our target, and we are working to address known gaps over time.
