Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Africa Climate & Energy Nexus (“AfCEN”, “we”, “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: June 2026

Who we are

The Africa Climate & Energy Nexus is a pan-African platform focused on climate, energy, infrastructure, and mineral-transition opportunities across Africa. This policy applies to this marketing website. Tools, dashboards, and workspaces hosted on our separate platform application may be governed by additional terms provided at the point of access.

Information we collect

We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. On this website we may handle:

  • Information you choose to send us. If you use the contact page or email us directly, we receive the details you provide — such as your name, organisation, email address, and the contents of your message — so we can respond.
  • Aggregate, non-personal usage statistics. We measure overall site traffic (for example, which pages are visited and the type of device used) using a privacy-friendly analytics service, as described below.
  • Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically record basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operational purposes.

We do not currently operate a newsletter or email-subscription service on this website, and there is no subscription form to complete.

Cookies and analytics

We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate. Plausible is a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics service: it does not set cookies, does not collect or store personal data, and does not track visitors across websites or over time. Analytics are only enabled where configured by us; if they are disabled, no usage statistics are gathered at all.

Because we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, there is no cookie-consent banner. Any cookies that may be present are strictly necessary for the website to function.

How we use information

  • To respond to enquiries and messages you send us.
  • To understand, maintain, secure, and improve the website.
  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the information you provide for advertising.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate this website — for example, our cloud hosting provider and the analytics service described above. These providers process information only as needed to deliver their service to us. We do not share the contents of your enquiries with third parties for their own marketing.

Data retention

We keep correspondence and enquiry details only for as long as needed to handle your request and to meet our legitimate operational and legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights and data requests

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, or to ask any question about this policy, contact us via the contact page or by email at privacy@africacen.org. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
